In response to the Programme for Government announced by the Scottish Government today, Steve Micklewright, Convenor of the Scottish Rewilding Alliance, said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n


\u201cThe Scottish Government\u2019s commitment to woodland creation and peatland restoration, its promise to protect 30% of Scotland\u2019s land and sea for nature by 2030, and its financial support for nature restoration are all welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe now need the Scottish Government to step up for nature in a big way. That will give us a route-map to tackle the overlapping nature and climate emergencies, address Scotland\u2019s sad ranking as one of the world\u2019s most nature-depleted countries, and ensure Scotland\u2019s progress including through empowered communities and nature-based economies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cScotland has the opportunity to be a world leader in restoring nature. Our message to the Scottish Government is simple \u2013 harness rewilding to unleash Scotland\u2019s potential.
